Sign years begin at Lunar New Year — late January or February — not January 1. Born in those weeks? You may belong to the year before; enter your birthday and the reading engine sorts it exactly.

The nature of the Pig

In the Great Race, the Pig arrived last — it had stopped along the way to eat well and take a nap — and was welcomed all the same. The cycle ends not with a winner but with contentment, which may be the story's quietest point.

The Pig closes the cycle with the virtue the race began without: ease. Pig people are generous and sincere, quick to share and slow to suspect; they take real pleasure in simple things and give pleasure the same way. Where they sit, the temperature of the room rises a degree.

The shadow is the open door left too open — overtrust, overindulgence, the generosity that forgets to keep a reserve. At its best, the Pig's warmth is not naivety but a decision, renewed daily, to meet the world in good faith and let the ledger keep itself.

The five Pigs

Each return of the Pig arrives under a different element, on a sixty-year wheel — so a Metal Pig and a Fire Pig share a nature but not a temperament.

Metal Pig (1971) — edge and resolve — the Pig with the firmest will and the cleanest lines.

Water Pig (1983) — feel and flow — the most intuitive Pig, reading currents others miss.

Wood Pig (1995) — growth and plans that branch — a Pig turned toward building and beginnings.

Fire Pig (2007) — heat and visibility — the Pig at its boldest, quick to act and hard to miss.

Earth Pig (2019) — ground and patience — the steadiest Pig, practical and built to last.

Metal Pig (2031) — edge and resolve — the Pig with the firmest will and the cleanest lines.

Company it keeps

Tradition groups the twelve into four trines of like minds. The Pig runs with the Rabbit and the Goat — the gentle ones — peaceable natures that guard the warmth of things. Opposite it on the wheel stands the Snake: not an enemy, but a mirror — the friction that teaches what ease cannot. And its quiet ally, the so-called secret friend, is the Tiger, the bond that asks no performance.

The Pig in late 2026 — the Fire Horse's turn

A generous sign in a spending year; you may have given a great deal of yourself. The second half is for replenishing.

The Workease off the giving and restore your own reserves before winter.
The Wellrefill the well — receive and save as freely as you've spent.
The Heartgather with good company; your warmth returns among people who warm you back.
The Bodyrest, feed yourself well, and let the season be gentle.

The turn: receive as freely as you've given.
