Sign years begin at Lunar New Year — late January or February — not January 1. Born in those weeks? You may belong to the year before; enter your birthday and the reading engine sorts it exactly.

The nature of the Rooster

In the Great Race, it was the Rooster who found the raft and steered it across, Goat and Monkey aboard — tenth place, and both of the others owed it their placing. Order, applied at the moment order was needed.

The Rooster is the cycle's craftsman. Rooster people are precise, punctual, and unafraid to say the true thing at the volume it requires. They hold standards the way others hold opinions, and what they produce is finished — checked twice, straight at the seams, done when it is actually done.

The shadow is the red pen that never rests: criticism as a reflex, fuss as a form of care that doesn't feel like care to anyone receiving it. At its best, the Rooster's exactness is generosity — the person who fixes it properly, tells you the truth kindly, and shows up exactly when they said.

The five Roosters

Each return of the Rooster arrives under a different element, on a sixty-year wheel — so a Earth Rooster and a Wood Rooster share a nature but not a temperament.

Earth Rooster (1969) — ground and patience — the steadiest Rooster, practical and built to last.

Metal Rooster (1981) — edge and resolve — the Rooster with the firmest will and the cleanest lines.

Water Rooster (1993) — feel and flow — the most intuitive Rooster, reading currents others miss.

Wood Rooster (2005) — growth and plans that branch — a Rooster turned toward building and beginnings.

Fire Rooster (2017) — heat and visibility — the Rooster at its boldest, quick to act and hard to miss.

Earth Rooster (2029) — ground and patience — the steadiest Rooster, practical and built to last.

Company it keeps

Tradition groups the twelve into four trines of like minds. The Rooster runs with the Ox and the Snake — the careful builders — patient, exact, allergic to waste. Opposite it on the wheel stands the Rabbit: not an enemy, but a mirror — the friction that teaches what ease cannot. And its quiet ally, the so-called secret friend, is the Dragon, the bond that asks no performance.

The Rooster in late 2026 — the Fire Horse's turn

Order-loving in a disorderly year, you've spent energy keeping things straight. Autumn is your season; its sharper, cooler air suits you.

The Workset things in real order now — structure you build in autumn holds.
The Welltidy your accounts and your systems; small corrections compound.
The Heartsoften your standards for the people you love; warmth over correctness.
The Bodychannel your precision into a steady routine, not into worry.

The turn: put your house right while the season is with you.
